Hey all,
Sorry for the long read, but I wanted to give as much detail as possible.
I have a strange issue. The host is Win 10 x64, the guest vm is the same. I'm using the latest version of VMware Workstation as of this writing, including all updates, as well as a fully re-installed VMTools, just to rule that out as well.
My problem is, I can't reliably access shared folders between the 2. Sometimes it works, often it does not; with no networking changes whatsoever in between.
For example, last night, I wanted to use Beyond Compare (BC) to mirror some folders/files to my VM, so I went into my VM, opened Explorer (browser), clicked on the Network node (seems I always HAVE to do this on both machines first, or it won't recognize folder shares? That's problem 1.) Enumerated the shared folders, did the same on the Host, at that time I was able to browse shares on both the guest and host. So I opened BC, setup the folders to mirror from the Host to the Guest, started (some 400K files), and about halfway through, it was like the guest stopped allowing access anymore, and half of the files being transferred errored out.
Ever since then, I can only get the guest VM to access the folders shared on the host, but not vice-versa; the Host can't access the guest anymore, no matter how many times I try to refresh the Network nodes in Explorer on both sides. Again, I can access the host shares all day long (at the moment, but that often randonly acts wonky as well), but since I can't "see" the guest VM folders, I can't do a sync with BC anymore.
When I use Explorer and click Refresh, it LISTS the VM guest, but, when I click it to try to access it, it shows this every time:

REALLY frustrating. Anyone have any solution?
TIA
