One VM constanstly RPO violation

Hello,

 

In our environment we have 3 sites

 

-Local site

-Remote A site

-Remote B site

 

All Local Site and Remote A site VM's are replicating fine, but with Remote B site we are constantly having it fall out of sync or getting a RPO violation (RPO set to 2 hours, total VM size is 64gb total size). I am unsure why, our network guy has stated that he has opened the pipe for it completely and it will still get the RPO violation. But it is so intermittent it's hard to understand what is going on.

 

Are there any logs or anything that can better help me understand why it is getting an RPO violation so frequently?

Zapraszam do rejestracji - jest wymagana, abyśmy mogli ogarnąć sprawy organizacyjne... jak również liczba miejsc jest ograniczona. Ok, formalności za nami. Teraz trochę o zmianach, jak widzieliście agenda staruje tym razem od 14:00 - z jednej strony jest to ukłon dla podróżujących do stolicy, a dla autochtonów może pomoże się ogarnąć z tematami rodzinno/firmowymi... i miejmy nadzieję wszytymi pozwoli na przybycie. Oficjalna cześć trwa do około 20:00. Będzie o VSAN, będzie o View i NSX, czyli jak widzicie tematy zaiste gorące. Potem startuje vBeer:

Help Cleaning Up Requests Stuck In Progress

Hello,

 

We have been working on getting vRA 7 deployed. In the process, we have amassed some strange failures and requests that are stuck "In Progress". I am trying to figure out how to clean these up.

 

In the cases where installing software components hanged and the deployment request is stuck "In Progress" forever, I was able to delete them using this reference http://open902.com/vra7-delete-stuck-in-progress-deployments/.

 

The last cases are a little harder for me to figure out how to cleanup. They are deployments that have completed, and so the object exists as an item, but the machine object under the deployment no longer exists. This results in multiple expiry and destroy requests that never complete, and stay in progress.

 

For example:

But trying to destroy some of them results in an error:

 

The following component requests failed: Server2012R2Agent. Internal error in processing component request: [Rest Error]: {Status code: 502}, {Error code: 10107} , {Error Source: null}, {Error Msg: You cannot perform that action because the system cannot connect to the provider at https://VRAURLREDACTED/WAPI/.}, {System Msg: Provider service is not available or in error state.}

 

And some of them do not have an available action to destroy:

I would appreciate any advice and how to go about cleaning these up. I am thinking this may involve the IaaS database...

Na empresa onde trabalho, todos os dias no VCenter está aparecendo uma mensagem de pop up com um erro.

Que este bug foi corrigido na versão 5.5 para frente.

 

Minha dúvida cruel, é se eu instalar o Client 6.0, conseguirei utilizar normalmente, tendo um ESXi na versão 5.1

 

Agradeço, quem puder tirar minha dúvida.

I am implementing System Center Operation manage 2007 R2 with Quest QMX extension for VMware.

I started monitoring SNMP traps from ESX servers over QMX tool after that I recieved from all virtual machines these traps:

 

VMWare: This trap is sent when a virtual machine detects or regains the guest heartbeat.

vmID=1 vmConfigFile=/vmfs/volumes/4b694757-1f79af5f-c0fd-00215e08aefa/srvspi03/srvspi03.vmx (alarm supplied by VirtualAgent.js EXIT)

I reinstalled VMware tool on virtual machines but it did not help me. I still recieved SNMP trap loss/regain the guest heartbeat.

I don't understand why all VM have vmDI=1 .... ??

 

Can You help how to resolve this problem ?

lost smtp defaults after 6.0.3 to 6.0.4 upgrade

I upgraded to vRO 6.0.4 at the same time as my vCenter 6.0U2 update. Everything seems fine with vcenter and orchestrator except SMTP from vRO is slightly broken.

 

It looks like the default smtp/from address was lost and when I try to login to the config web page to reset them, I don’t see the mail plugin. I used the troubleshooting option to reinstall all plugins on reboot option but that didn’t seem to help.

 

I went looking for a workflow in orchestrator to but all I could find was one that had mandatory username/pass fields which I don’t need (I’m not authenticating)

 

My workaround was to set the following 3 options in any steps I use to send email.

 

  1. message.smtpHost="x.x.x.x";
  2. message.smtpPort="25"
  3. message.fromAddress="x@mydomain.com";

 

Is there anything I can do to fix my problem and get back that plugin page to set my default options?

Storage vMotion question

Hello All,

 

Newbie VMware admin here hopefully this is an easy question. I have several Microsoft SQL boxes that i need to move the drive that the OS is installed on, they all have RDM's attached when i attempt a storage vmotion it looks like its wanting to move all the drives instead of just one, i have never attempted to move a system with RDM's attached to it but i need to move off this old storage we have in a hurry. Any advice is appriciated thank you!

Installing VMWare causes host's static IP to change to 169.254.x.x on reboot

Hi, I have Windows 10 64-bit (Build 10586) as my host OS and installed VMware Workstation 12 Pro 12.1.1. My host has a static IP of 192.168.10.1 in it's TCP/IP properties. When I reboot, the host IP changes to 169.254.x.x which I verify in the command ipconfig. I don't know why this is happening.

 

If I change the static IP to 192.168.10.2, then it stays as 192.168.10.2 when I reboot with VMWare installed. But this is not so if it is set to 192.168.10.1. If VMWare is not installed, I do not get these problems. VMWare must have some conflict with my host being set to 192.158.10.1. I have checked my Network Adapter settings in device manager, selected 'show hidden devices', and removed everything, and rescanned. My PC only has one network adapter. I have no VPN setup. I checked my router and there is no conflict there either in DHCP settings. I noticed the network is not connected even before I log into my Windows 10 host account as the yellow icon pops up.

 

Any help appreciated.

VDP 6.1 can´t connect to vdp appliance inside vsphere web client

Hi,

 

I have depolyed VDP 6.1 and have it up and running. now im trying to connect to the appliance frpm vsphere Web client. After pressing connect the screen goes grey and nothing happens.

No error message no time out, just grayed out with timeglas not moving.

 

DNS is ok

account for vdp in vcenter ok

all services for appliance are ok

 

vcenter 5.5 ESXI 5.5

my vm is performing a windows 7 update but never completes. ?

I just started using fusion on my mac (os 10.8)

my win7 vm was working fine.

then it went into windows update. it is 'stuck on "stage 3 of 3" preparing to configure windows"

 

Question:. every time i come back to my laptop... the vm has suspended itself.  I dont know if that is from inactivity from the windows update or not?

how can i debug this problem?

SNMP on ESXi

We use the VM annotation to track/manage our vm deployments.  It's archaic, and unwieldy, I'm trying to upgrade it.  I looked at several DCIM products that meet our business requirements, and of the three options I present to Management, they chose the free one. 

 

Now I'm stuck with openDCIM, which will poll the ESXi hosts (if you turn SNMP on) and I was wondering if there was a way to pull these VM Annotations we have via SNMP so they can be imported into openDCIM. 

 

I downloaded iReasoning's MIB Browser and ran it against me sacrificial lamb but I'm not seeing the keywords I put in the annotations for one of the VMs.  Is there a way to "publish" the annotations via SNMP?

VMware Workstation 12 Pro Mouse Forward Back Buttons Don't Work

The forward and back buttons on the mouse don't work with VMware Workstation 12 Pro.  I've installed several guest systems, and the problem is the same with all.

 

Adding these lines to the VMX file doesn't work and isn't a solution for ALL guests.

 

usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"
mouse.vusb.enable = "TRUE"
mouse.vusb.useBasicMouse = "FALSE"

 

I'd rather not spend another week and dozens of hours fixing this problem like I did the previous issue with VMware Workstation 12 Pro and mouse problems.

 

The forward and back buttons worked with VMware Workstation 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, and 6.

NSX ESG runnig out of disk space & I need to free space

Hi all,

I'm  using vRealize Operation Manager and I have NSX management pack configured, I have many many alarms that says almost all edge service gateways that I have configured are running out of disk space. Actually this is real, when I logging into this alarmed ESG and I run: show system storage command I see that / and /var/log is almost full, so what I can do to free space, I don't find any doc/KB that can help me.

Dell PERC H730p / LSI 3108 /Invader implementations

Hello, would anybody happen to have any guidance or a proven config utilizing the PERC H730p/LSI 3108/Invader controller (FW 25.2.1.0037) in pass-thru with VSAN (ESXi 5.5 build 2143827). We are having stability issues that are exhibited via PSOD and intermittent permanent disk failures on a VSAN platform build based on the above in Dell R730 chassis with Fusion-io ioScale fronted Seagate 10k v7 ST1200MM0007 disk groups.

 

Common log events include “firmware in fault state” for the HBA and resets and aborts for the individual disks. Errors increment in the individual drive counters correlating with these events.

 

We have tried different HBA drivers, from the inbox mr3 (0.255.03.01-2) to the latest known PERC9 driver (6.901.55.00.1 - currently evaluating), including some of the mr3/megaraid drivers in between (6.605.10.00-1, 06.803.52.00, 06.803.73.00). The fallback of RAID0 has passed tests so far, but we all know what that means.

 

We know this configuration is not currently listed on the HCL. We do have cases currently open with VMware and Dell, and are in communication with LSI.

 

 

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

VMWare Lightwave join domain service not found

I am attempting to join our local domain using the /opt/vmware/bin/domainjoin command.  When I do, I get the following, uninformative error:

 

root@photon-machine [ ~ ]# /opt/vmware/bin/domainjoin join my.work.domain --username myusername
Password: domain-join failed. Error 2: Possible errors:
LDAP error: Protocol error
Win Error: Operation failed with error ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (2)

 

Everything is accessible via the network so I am not sure what is happening.  Any ideas?

Can not Remote Desktop to Server after P2V

Need help on migrating vCenter 6.0 (Windows) embedded vPostgres to MS SQL

Is there a way to change/migrate from embedded vPostgres databse to MS SQL (external)?

VM's unable to ping Default Gateway

Hello,

 

Problem Statement: VM's connected to logical switches are unable to ping their gateway (LIF on DLR) however they are able to communicate with each other.

 

We have NSX 6.2 setup in our lab and the setup details are as follows

 

2 Clusters

NSX - Management

VSAN- Compute

 

NSX Components

 

NSX Manager (Management Cluster)

1 Controller (Management Cluster)

 

VDS

 

Management VDS - Tagged to VLAN 201

Compute VDS - Tagged to VLAN 504

 

Transport Zones

 

Global Transport Zone spanned to both clusters

Management Transport Zone which is also spanned to both clusters

 

2 Logical Switches - WEB (Global Transport Zone in Unicast Mode)

                              TRANSIT(Management Transport Zone in Unicast Mode)

DLR - with one uplink to Transit Switch and One Internal Link to WEB switch

EDGE - with One Uplink to Management VDS and one internal Link connected to Transit Switch    

The WEB Logical switch has two VM's attached to it.

 

 

Problem Statement: The VM's are unable to ping their gateway (LIF on DLR) however they are able to communicate with each other.

 

Can anyone pls. help in identifying the issue.
