ESXi 5.5 U3 HP Branded // ML30 // KMODE Exception not handled

Hello,

we have a major problem with an old ESXi 5.5 U3 Host.

Specs:
HP Proliant ML30 Gen9

ESXi 5.5 U3 HP Branded Image

We need to ensure that Windows 10 can be setup as VM on this system. Before we switched the physical Hardware to the ML30 this was possible.

Now we are unable to boot a Windows 10 1803 Iso on this Hypervisior. The U3 supports Windows 10. Also the ML30 in the list of supported devices.

When we start a new virtual Maschine from a Windows Iso we always get the same error "KMODE Exception not handled". Its directly after the first loading screen.

We already tried to boot up a existing maschine - same error. There is no Windows Dump file to analyse the error. Also the ESXi VM logs seems to be clean.

We invested some time to fix this error on our own:

- Upgrade the Maschine

- Remove all Device etc. from the maschine

- activated IDE Modus in the VMDK File

- Updatet all HP Drivers

Is there anyone out there with the same problem and a solution? Is there any error log about the hardware drivers that esxi is using? Maybe some drivers dont work correctly.

Upgrading the Host to 6.5 is the last thing we can do, before that we want to ensure there is no other solution arround. The support for Windows 10 on a ESXi 5.5 is given, it should be possible to get it running.

Thanks!

Slow Ethernet performance robocopy

My company has a robocopy script that runs every time a computer is started.  Very simple robocopy that copies from a network location and dumps the files into that specific computers local folders.  If I run the script on my host computer it is completed in approx. 30 seconds with the ethernet performance in the 5-15 Mbps range.  When the same script is run in the VM, it takes at least 5 minutes and the ethernet performance is never above 100 kbps.  System information is as follows:

Host:

Windows 10.0.17763.  Workstation 12.5.9 PRO.

VM:

Windows 10.0018362.

Any help with this would be great! Thanks!

Migration Tool for new JavaScript API

I am attempting to run the Migration Tool to migrate from the Bridge API to the new JavaScript API. I can not seem to get it to run. I have followed the instructions and suspect the issue is with sending the correct parameters for my project. After q fair amount of trial and error, I am using the following command:

C:\vsphere-client-sdk-6.7.U1Virgo\html-client-sdk\tools\API migration tool>npm run -s migrate generateMigrationFile -- --project='C:/workspace/Personal/vSphereNewAPI/TsmVMwareHTML5' --migrationFile=apiMigrate.txt

I get the following:

The project ''C:/workspace/Personal/vSphereNewAPI/TsmVMwareHTML5' does not exist.

I've also tried reversing the directory slashes:

C:\vsphere-client-sdk-6.7.U1Virgo\html-client-sdk\tools\API migration tool>npm run -s migrate generateMigrationFile -- --project='C:\workspace\Personal\vSphereNewAPI\TsmVMwareHTML5' --migrationFile=apiMigrate.txt

I've also tried adding the project to the tools directory adn using a relative path.. same error.

What is the correct format to pass in a directory on Windows?

Device/Credential Guard error on Windows 10 Home

I recently upgraded to the latest version of VMware Workstation (14.1.1) and am now encountering the following problem when trying to launch VM's that worked fine previously.

"VMware Workstation and Device/Credential Guard are not compatible. VMware Workstation can be run after disabling Device/Credential Guard. Please visit http://www.vmware.com/go/turnoff_CG_DG for more details."

Problem is that I'm running Windows 10 Home and the Device/Credential Guard is not a feature of that version - it's in Windows 10 Enterprise.

VMware Workstation version: 14.1.1 build 7528167

Windows 10 version:  Windows 10 Home - Version 1083 (build 17115.1)

As mentioned previously the VM's worked fine on the previous version of Workstation 14 on Windows 10 Home. The suggestions to turn off Device/Credential Guard for Windows 10 all relate to the Enterprise version and Hyper-V, which doesn't run on the Home version so the settings to change don't exist.

Appreciate any assistance or suggestions to resolve my problem.

3D Acceleration doesn't accelerate anything (VMWare Player 15.1.0 build-13591040, Ubuntu 18.04 host, Win10 guest)

$

  I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 on a Dell XPS 9570, which has a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti being driven by Nvidia driver 430.26.  I'm running VMWare Player 15.1.0 build-13591040.  When I first installed Player, 3D acceleration worked as expected, and my applications were fast.  Glxgears likewise runs at ~60fps.  At some point, maybe after an Ubuntu update, something changed.   When booting Player I got the message, "Before you can run VMware, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel."  The process to load these modules would fail, and I couldn't start Player.  The fix I found was to modify the .vmx file for my VM with the lines:

mks.gl.allowBlacklistedDrivers = "TRUE"

mks.enableDX11Renderer = "FALSE"

mks.enableGLRenderer = "TRUE"

mks.enableGLBasicRenderer = "FALSE"

mks.enableD3DRenderer = "FALSE"

...However, even though Player doesn't complain about lack of 3D acceleration support, Windows 10 graphics are far slower than they used to be.  If I toggle the VMX file settings back to using DX11, then Player will no longer fail to start up, but will complain about not having 3D support.   The GL Basic Renderer, and D3D Renderer also produce very bad performance.  I've tried reinstalling Player, installing Player 14, and even making a new Windows 10 VM; the same problem is always present.

As it stands, guest Windows 10 is so slow that the applications I need to run are borderline unusable.   Is there anything else I can fiddle with to get fast 3D graphics back?

Thanks!

I have ESXi 6.7 running on a server. I tried to boot the installation for 6.7 u1 and u2 from two different flash drives and both versions on both drives hang at bnxtroce.v00. There is no error message. The server still boots from the installed 6.7 fine. Why is it hanging, and how can I get around it?

trigger a VM reconfigure workflow via Event Subscription before the VM is Powered ON

Hi,

I am trying to trigger a VM reconfigure workflow to update VM hardware configuration. This reconfiguration requires the VM to be in powered on state. Now I unable to figure out which event should I trap/subscribe to ensure:

  1. The VM is registered
  2. The VM is not yet Powered ON.

I am aware that within my existng workflow, I can PowerOff the VM and then execute the reconfigure VM task. I just want to be cleaner and execute the workflow after the VM has registered by yet to PowerOn.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, I am trying to register a vsphere H5 plugin to VCSA 6.7. In the logs, I can see that the plugin is deployed successfully and also I see that it is shown in Client Plugins under Administration but I still do not see the plugin icon on shortcuts page. Could you please check this. Attaching plugin-package.xml and UI screenshots. I see the following warning in logs :

"Detected an invalid signature for plugin: com.commvault.commandcenter:1.0.0 - com.vmware.vise.extensionfw.signing.PluginSignatureException: No META-INF/MANIFEST.MF entry found in the plugin zip file." Request you to please help me with this.

I have contractors who're requesting that i Enable Nested Virtualization in Vmware Horizon,

Does anyone have any experience with this procedure?

I haven't found much info on the web regarding this issue.

They're checking to see if it's possible to install Docker and run Docker containers inside the VDI environment.

Vmware Horizon Agent 7.7

UEM 9.6

Folder redirection enabled

No App Volumes

Linked Clones with Persistent disks.
