VM Workstation and Hardware Based Licensing

Hi,

I recently installed VMWare Workstation 10 on a PC.  My plan was to run software that requires hardware based licensing.  To activate the software you provide a 'PC ID' specified by the software and the developer sends a license key.  This works perfectly on the physical machine.

However, on the virtual machine I noticed that everytime the software is opened and closed (actually every time the license screen is opened or closed) the 'PC ID' changes.  I am not sure where the PC ID is taken from however it looks something like this:

Is there a way I can fix this 'PC ID' if I find out what hardware resource is mapped to.  For instanced if it's mapped to the CPU or a HDD can I set this in a configuration file.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank You.
