I am starting to plan an upgrade for my company's VDI infrastructure. The servers are going EOL and only support ESXI 6.0. We are looking at different solutions, including rack mounts, blades, and hyper converged solutions and have realized that we need to actually consider what CPU vendor we want to use this time. It use to be a no brainer, almost a default response to go Intel, but after patching for the L1 Terminal Fault and enabling the "ESXi-Side-Channel-Aware-Scheduler"... here we are.
What do you guys think? Are there any current Intel chips official supported by VMware that are not impacted by Intel's troubles? Or should I just swing over to AMD?
