CapsLock stuck ON in Windows 10 Guest

CapsLock keeps turning on in my Windows 10 guest.  Upon booting the guest and being presented with the Login screen, when I go to enter the password the CapLock indictor is turned on.  I've tried pressing the CapsLock button on the keyboard and manually sending CapsLock signal via the VMware Fusion menu. Nothing I do seems to turn off CapsLock for more than a few seconds.   I've seen references of similar issues on this forum in years past but none of those work arounds seems to fix the issue.   HELP!

 

I'm running:

  • MacBook Pro 13", Late 2016 version
  • Fusion Professional Version 11.1.1 (14328561)
  • Host: MacOS Mojave Version 10.14.6 host
  • Guest: Windows 10 Pro guest OS
  • Apple Bluetooth Magic Keyboard

Issues with Workstation 15.5.5--RFIDeas Badge Readers

Greetings,

 

I use pcProx badge readers for software testing, and post upgrade to v15.5.5 they quit working.  I could get a single tap, and then the badge reader would show as connected, but not detect any cards.  So, do the needful (download 15.5.2, uninstall 15.5.5, install 15.5.2) and I am back working again.

 

So, now you know....

Separate Traffic

Hello, i need help, i have 2  vm's with Windows srv 2016, each one with 2 nic's in different segments, one nic without GW, for purpose of vm lan only communication, at vsphere each NIC are in different portgroups, different vswitch and different uplinks on separated physical networks, when i try to Transfer files between servers, the traffic reach out trough the two OS nic's, what i have done Bad? Is a problem of vsphere or Windows config?

Migrate option in VM is grayed out

Добрый день,

Подскажите, у меня вопрос следующего характера, планируем отказоустойчивую структуру на базе VMware

Имеем два сервера - 2 хоста

Имеем два QNAP NAS TVS-1672XU-RP - 2 NAS

Планируем использовать один сервер как основной, второй как запасной, как отказоустойчивую технологию планируем использовать HA, но тогда возникает вопрос, что все виртуальные машины будут храниться на одном NAS и в случаи его отказа все рухнет. Какими средствами можно сделать, чтобы два хранилища к примеру синхронизировались между собой и в случаи отказа NAS происходило переключение на резервную машину ? Подскажите направление, как лучше построить отказоустойчивый кластер имея несколько NAS.

 

В голове пока идея только такая, но по мне как то кривовато

Между NAS делать Rsync.

Host 1 <> NAS 1 <=> NAS 2 <> Host 2

Writable Volumes not allowing USB redirection

Seeing if anyone has a solution to this while I wait for support to finally respond.

 

On Horizon 9.7, App Volumes 2.18, UEM, 9.8

Have two pools, Windows 7 32-bit, and Windows 10 LTSC 64-bit.

Writable Volumes enabled for UIA plus profile template.

 

We had an issue last week, which I think is the result of this. Our Sophos appliance seemed to lock up, causing all our VDI connections to be refused from the thin clients. After shutting down the appliance, staff were able to login again and everything seemed fine. Couple days later I we start getting tickets about USB sticks not working. Certain users were not able to use USB devices. I'd login to the same thin client, and it would work.

Tried removing the Sophos client from the golden image and keeping the appliance off and USB still did not work. After testing more, my profile became intermittent with USB devices too. If I logged in, USB would not work. If I disconnected the session without logging out, and then reconnect USB would be functional until next log off. Both pools were effected by this and it's random users.

After deleting my writable volume and allowing it to be re-created I have had no issues. Any user I move from Windows 7 to Windows 10, creating a new writable volume is having no issue. Looking for a fix without having to delete their writable volume.

Security Server that no longer exists showing in Horizon View Sessions list

For several years, when listing active (PCoIP) sessions, our internal users showed nothing for the security Gateway, and our external users showed the name of one of the Security Gateway.  A couple  of years ago, maybe around version 7.10, ALL users started showing the same fully-qualified name of a Security Server, whether they were internal or external.

 

We have removed the Security Servers and their paired Connection Servers (via vdmadmin), and they no longer show up in the Settings / Servers.  We have also installed UAGs.


Now external users show one of the UAGs in the Security Gateway column, and the internal users show that same fully qualified name of the Security Server that it used to show before moving to UAGs.

 

All of our Connection Servers do have that fully qualified name under the Edit Connection Servers Settings / General / HTTP(s) Security tunnel, but the "Use Secure Tunnel connection to machine is NOT checked, or is the Use PCoIP Secure Gateway for PCoIP connections to machine checked.  I tried checking it, and wiping out the URL, then unchecking the Use Secure Tunnel connection to machine, but the URL is retained when I go back to view it.


Is this a problem?  Has anyone else seen this?

Unable to rollout vRA trough LCM (LCMVRAVACONFIG590003)

Hi,

 

I'm building a lab environment of vRA but the installation of vRA won't succeed. I keep getting the error below:

 

++ vracli ceip status --raw
++ awk '{print tolower($0)}'
+ ENABLE_TELEMETRY=false
+ kubectl -n prelude create configmap telemetry-config --from-literal=collectorIdSvc=vcac.8_0 --from-literal=endpointEnv=production
Error from server (Forbidden): configmaps "telemetry-config" is forbidden: unable to create new content in namespace prelude because it is being terminated

 

I've already applied the fixes sugessted in:

 

Error Deploy vra 8.0.1 in vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager Refers to KB76053 and KB76870

 

Is there anything else I can try?

Dell Wyse 3050 thin client sidebar

We use dell wyse 3050 in one of our computer labs connecting to our Horizon 7 Instant clone desktops and recently I came across this error on 2 thin clients. When we log in instead of connecting to a desktop it just shows a sidebar. Anyone has come across this before, help on this is appreciated

When clicking on the shutdown button, these options show up. Have tried signing off & restarting but the sidebar still shows up even when logging on as a different user

Exception 0xc0000005 (access violation) has occurred when starting VM

Hi, I have installed VMware Horizon and used it last night. I was able to connect to the server and work on it. But this morning, it has stopped working with that error. I am attaching the error image and the log that its pointing to. Can someone please help with this? Thank you.

Linux Guests (Mint 19.3) on Linux (19.3) hosts no longer have drag 'n drop or cut & paste support for files after upgrade to 15.5., even with open-vm-tools 11.1

The title pretty much makes the point.  I am working around the problem by using shared folders, which do work between the guest and host.

 

When doing a d&d or c&p, the Error while copying dialog detail says 'Error when getting information for file "/Zsv1YQ/<filename>": No such file or directory'I

 

It appears to be one-way.  I can move TO the guest, but not TO the host.

 

This is reproducible.  I've restarted the systems, I've restarted (/etc/init.d/vmware restart) on the host, and restarted vmware-tools on the guest.  Nothing has resolved the problem.

 

All of this was working fine prior to the upgrade (from 15.5.2).

 

vmtoolsd -v reports 10.3.21.249 (build-14772444)

 

I have also tried it with open-vm-tools 11.05.17716 and VMwae Tools for MS-Windows 11.0.5 with the same results.

 

HOWEVER, upgrading MS-Windows to 11.0.6 fixed the problem there.  So I manually built open-vm-tools 11.1.0 from source.  No success.

This is now a bug against open-vm-tools: Linux Guests (Mint 19.3) on Linux (19.3) hosts no longer have drag 'n drop or cut & paste support for files after upgrad…

ThinApp doesn't work after upgrade to windows 10 2004

After Upgrading windows 10 from 1909 to 2004 build 19041.207, ThinApp doesn't work anymore and any portable created with it doesn't work.

Please see the error message in the attached image.

Automatic Startup, Full Screen, Multiple Monitors, Exclusive Mode

Hello,

 

I have 4 PCs under Windows 10 LTSC 2019 running VMware Workstation 15.5.2 including 2 with 2 screens. I would like to start automatically the VM on the 2 screens in full screen and in exclusive mode. 

 

These PCs are currently configured as follows :

  • Automatic Startup and AutoLogon of the Host OS
  • 1st try : Automatic Startup of the VM with vmware-kvm          =>  Exclusive Mode.
  • 2nd try : Automatic Startup of the VM with vmware.exe -X     => Full Screen

 

In the 2 tests, the VM is not displayed on the 2nd screen.

Player V15.5.5 Sound Issues

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 2004 (64bit) and likewise upgraded to Player V15.5.5.  Since, all of my VM's have absolutely horrible, garbled sound.  Long story short, I kept the new version of Windows, but downgraded to player version 15.5.2, and the sound is perfect again.

 

Don't have any of the Windows virtualization features enabled, and not sure I will ever do so since I don't have a need for the Sandbox, etc.  Therefore, no reason to upgrade to the latest player.

 

Question is, has anyone else experienced this? and what did you do to resolve it with version 15.5.5.?  I am in the habit of installing the latest versions, but not at a cost of quality or functionality.

HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED After Upgrading Host to Windows 10 Pro

Good morning, I've upgraded my Host operating system to Windows 10 Pro and now my guests are throwing the HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED error once or twice a day.  Please help.

 

Pre Upgrade

Host:  Dell Precision Workstation

Host:  Windows 7 Professional

Host:  VMWare Workstation 10

Hosting 2 - Windows 7 Pro Virtual Machines

This configuration has been stable for about 3 years without any real issues.

 

Upgrade Stage 1

Host:  Dell Precision Workstation

Host:  Windows 7 Professional

Host:  VMWare Workstation 10

Hosting 2 - Windows 10 Pro Virtual Machines

For the first stage I upgraded the virtual machines to Windows 10 Pro using the in place upgrade and Windows Media Creation tool.  Once the VMs were upgraded this configuration was stable for about 2 months.

 

Upgrade Stage 2

Host:  Dell Precision Workstation

Host:  Windows 10 Professional

Host:  VMWare Workstation 10

Hosting 2 - Windows 10 Pro Virtual Machines

For the second stage I upgraded the Host computer to Windows 10 Pro using the in place upgrade and Windows Media Creation tool.  After upgrading the Host operating system I installed the latest version of VMWare Workstation and imported the existing virtual machines.  Since upgrading the Host computer the VMs have been extremely unstable, and they generally crash once or twice a day with the HAL_INITIALIZATION_FAILED blue screen error.  This has been going on for several weeks.

 

Remediation Steps Attempted

1.  I have tried building a completely new Windows 10 VM from the upgraded host, without running any in place upgrade on the VM, and this new VM is still unstable.

2.  I have disabled hibernation and sleep options on the Host machine and the two VM Guests.

 

 

Most of the articles I've seen on this say this is because the guests are going into hibernation, but I've disabled hibernation in the control panel/power options.  Should I be looking somewhere else?  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Ubuntu P2V: kernel panic not syncing vfs unable to mount root fs on unknown-block 0,0

I have a 16.04LTS running on an intel NUC that seems happy there. I'm trying to P2V to my ESXi6.5u1 machine. The machine is up to date with apt-get update etc. Conversion seems to go fine though I did make the memory and disk sizes a little smaller, but still way bigger than it needs. Booting that VM gets me kernel panic not syncing vfs unable to mount root fs on unknown-block 0,0.

 

Tried to boot advanced options and it shows one for upstart and another for recovery mode. They all boot to the same error. Following some guides online I hit C to go to command line and for example "df -h" results in error: can't find command 'df'. Every command I'm finding online to troubleshoot this is not found.

 

What should I do?

 

Other things I have tried:

Deleted the VM and converted it again, only this time selecting SATA disks instead of the suggested SCSI, which would match the source machine. Same exact problem.

Third time through I found a warning message about resizing boot, set that to the same size but still got same error.

Can I use a VM as a DNS server for my host machine?

I have a VM on which I installed Pi-Hole. I want to use it as the primary DNS server for my Windows 10 host machine, but when I add it's ip address to the DNS server option, it still is not configured. I am using bridged adapter for networking. Thanks.

Migrated 2.x appstacks not appearing after using the import tool fling

I used the App Migration fling to migrate my 2.x appstacks. I copied over the json and vmdk files to \ppv\packages_templates folder, and uploaded it into the manager. It shows in the list under the Storage tab, but nothing is appearing under "Inventory". Am I missing a step somewhere?
