Built a ThinApp and then when I try to run the program I get this error
vSAN Witness Appliance high CPU Usage
Hi. I have a question about Witness Appliance CPU usage...
I have a 6.7 witness appliance running on an esxi 6.7U1 (free) host and it is consuming roughly half of the host's CPU steadily even while there is virtually very little disk activity. This seems very excessive to me.
The vSAN is healthy so I know the witness is working ok, any other data points on witness cpu usage that I can compare to? Any way to check the witness to see why it is running wide open? I haven't tried rebooting the witness yet but that is my next step.
FYI, I actually have two witness appliances running on the same esxi host and they are both exhibiting the same high CPU usage so my esxi host is running almost 100% cpu
Pics of the host CPU usage view plus the witness appliance view of the CPU attached.
TIA.
VCP-DCV 2019: any study guide?
As stated in the object. Is there any official/unofficial study guide based on vSphere 6.7?
Thank you

VMs are in black screen when viewing in Summary tab
These are XenDesktops 7.15 LTSR CU1 running on VSphere 6.5. When I click on Summary page to view the VM it shows black screen. I do not see a Windows Desktop.
Any suggestions?
Api-Explorer URL No longer working
I am not sure if it was during the migration from vCD 9.1 to 9.5.0.1 or when we upgraded to 9.5.0.3, but everytime I goto https://<VCDURL>/api-explorer I now get a 404 with the error of,
Problem accessing /api-explorer/system. Reason:
No organization provided
As a bonus I know api-explorer shows documentation for /cloudapi, is there a way to get just plan old /api documentation in the same format?

VMWARE Virtual PC
Need to get a new host machine, what to do?
I am using an HP Elitebook Workstation 8560w, which I have upgraded to have 512 GB SSD and 2TB internal hard drive (in the optical bay drive).
The laptop is from 2011 and runs Windows 7 x64 Pro.
I am running Workstation PRO 15 on this laptop.
Now I am planning to buy a new laptop and scrap the old one, but there are a few caveats:
1) P2V to be able to use software
I will have to virtualize (p2v) the old computer for two reasons:
A) because there are a few software products that I use a lot and which I cannot reinstall since the software vendor has vanished and the software uses a license keyed to the actual laptop. I have tried before to move this software over from one computer to another but no luck...
So by creating a virtual machine from it I can keep old settings etc too.
B) I need access to my old laptop as a backup should I have forgotten something on it....
By making a p2v clone I will fix this.
2) How to handle Workstation PRO 15?
Since the laptop is my host for a fair amount of virtual machines I have the following concerns while migrating:
- Do I have to uninstall WS PRO15 from the existing machine before I do the P2V conversion? It seems likely since I doubt you can operate Workstation from within a virtual machine, right?
- Are there licensing problems for WmWare to do this (uninstall WS15PRO from old laptop before p2v operation and install it on the new laptop which likely will be Windows 10)?
3) How do I handle the virtual machines?
Can I just move the folders containing the virtual machines out to an external hard drive to be used with the new laptop?
It is a pity that no current laptop models support an internal extra hard drive like my Elitebook does...
Do guests work well if placed on external drives?
4) Will it run?
And lastly, will the converted Windows7 continue to run in the new virtual machine?
Getting a new license cannot be done since Microsoft has stopped selling them, and I will scrap the old laptop so I don't need both.
Any suggestions/ideas/howtos etc appreciated!
Writable Volumes Follow user on multiple Clusters ?
Hi All,
Having a play with Writable Volumes.
Our setup
Appvolumes Version: 2.16
Windows 10 1709
UEM 9.7
Question I have is we currently have a STD desktop pool that is load balanced between 4 clusters.
I have found if we create a writable volume on Cluster 1, the user does not get the writable on another clusters without manually moving the writable volumes.
So given the user could be load balanced to any of the 4 clusters is there a way to have the writable follow the user when logging in?
Sorry if silly question.
Thanks, in advanced

As you can see, it doesn't really work. You might think that's because pretty much everything is at zero, but if I manage to display much more lines in my terminal output by reducing character size, I find some stuff way down :

So I have two questions :
- Why can't we sort when inside a world in esxtop ?
- What is OCFlush and why it would be taking so much CPU while no VMs are running ?
Why does it matter? This is actually a home lab, and ESX is running on a spare MacBook Pro, bottomline is the fans are making too much noise and I want to fix this!

vsphere 6.7 LSI raid card, can't get drive status
Hi!
I have this server setup at home:
SuperMicro X10SLL-F
Intel Xeon E3-1241 v3
32GB 3CC 1600
LSI 8708EM2
2x Velociraptor 10k 300gb RAID 1
4x WD Red 2TB Raid 5
I was running Vsphere 6.0 since a long time, and I decided to go over 6.7. Installation worked fine, I have access to everything, all is working... Except 2 things:
1. I can't get my LSI 8708EM2 (detected as a 1078) to show drive status
2. Can't get my Storage Manager to access disk info or rebuild raid.
When I was on vSphere 6.0, I was able to see my drive status (and veeam one could alert me), and with my WIndows VM, I had LSI MSM and I was able to configure the raid card.
So what I did:
Install SAS driver I was using in version 6 --> not working
Installed the SMIS I had --> not working
Installed lastest SMIS --> not working
Disabled the Firewall --> not working
I have no idea what else I can do. I know it's an old card, but I got it for cheap. Any idea how can I get this fixed?
Thanks

Datastore dissappeared (Probably because of update 6.5 to 6.7)
Hi Everyone,
We have just noticed that our datastore is missing and we cannot see it under the ESXi webpage.
Not sure when did this happen, but maybe after we have updated the Esxi to 6.7.
The VMs are running fine.
We can see the Adapter under Storage -> Adapters.
We can see the hard drive under Storage -> Devices.
But the Datastore is empty and we cannot change any settings of the VMs as it throws an error
When I try to browse: "There are no browsable datastores. Currently, only vSAN and local VMFS datastores can be browsed."
I have tried to figure it out and run a few commands under SSH, but I cannot see what could be the issue or how to fix it.
Could you please let me know how to get back the datastore?

Host reboot and IP addresses are lost
New HPE DL380 Gen10 servers running the HPE customized ESXi 6.7 software
Management is setup on standard switch, DVswitch used for VM, iSCSI, and vMotion traffic
VMkernel ports are all setup for iSCSI and vMotion with iSCSI binding showing all storage volumes
Reboot a host and the IP address information for the iSCSI and vMotion is gone! The IP address for the management network stays just fine
Not sure if the problem lies with the setup of these new servers (BIOS or NIC settings) or with the HPE customized version of ESXi
Any ideas?
VMWare Fusion Professional Version 11.0.3 (12992109) Could not open /dev/vmmon: Broken pipe. Please make sure that the kernel module `vmmon' is loaded.
Hello,
I just upgraded to Mac OS Mojave v10.14.5 Beta (18F108f). Ever since doing that I can no longer start any of my VMs. I'm running VMWare Fusion Professional Version 11.0.3 (12992109). I've allowed VMWare under security & privacy previously and it's not showing as needing to be allowed again. I've uploaded my support info to Google Drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DirectX 11 support?
Hi
I'm using VMWare Pro 15.0.4.
I'm disappointed that it doesn't support DirectX 11 but only 10 but the game requires 11.
Can you please add DirectX 11 support?

Exclude local data stores from selection list
I am sure this has been asked before, but is it possible to say exclude certain data stores from regular admins selecting them? i.e. local SSD or BOSS drives?
Just curious.
Volume Purchase Program (VPP)
Hi team,
In VMware VPP License model, will it include certification and training that are purchased directly by customer?
