Hi Folks, wanted some quick help .

I run ESxi 6.7 and without much knowledge in the initial days, I configured my Win10 client with HDD of Thick lazy zeroed config.

Now though the storage on the top right shows 80 GB, my HDD on the client itself is choking with 40GB and no space.

How can I over come this. I only have one datastore available.

So I've gotten a trial version of esxi 6.7 and running inside a virtual machine in workstation and it's up and running fine on the ip 192.168.0.241.

I've ran the setup for vCenter and it's done the stage 1 without an issue but stage 2 is failing with "Could not connect to VMware Directory Service via LDAP. Verify VMware Directory Service is running on the appropriate system and is reachable from this host."

From reading it seemed like a DNS issue, so I added vcenter.vsphere.local as 192.168.0.240 and esxi1.vsphere.local as 192.168.0.241 which didn't make any difference, I added the PTR records just in case and still failed. Doing a dig for both DNS records worked fine from the console on the vCenter machine so it doesn't appear to be that from what I can tell.

I understand that Vmware Converter does not support converting software RAID 1 however some posts state the latest version does but these are not supported on the official documentation.

Has anyone attempted ( successfully ) to convert ?

They way i see it I have a few options:-

1. Convert the RAID array to a single disk BEFORE converting however this is dangerous as this could lead to massive data loss.

2. Use third party tools to convert the array to a single disk...again,  dangerous.

3. Somehow 'trick' VMware converter to clone the disks  and then I can make changes to the configuration via the VM so as to not touch the physical server.

Any insight would be appreciated.

It doesn't work anymore. I log into the collector UI, I see everything running...but VMware refuses to let me log into Skyline Advisor, saying I have no credentials. Instructions to change the root password are unhelpful, they did not work for me.

If VMware wants $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for this, they should show the courtesy of telling me so I can decide whether to pay it.

Instead of refusing me access to Skyline Advisor and taking all our VMware data and giving nothing back.

And when i try to install VMware-Tools, it just does nothing and afterwoods complains about "VMware Tools is not installed in this virtual machine". It is obscure, since i already installed some linux-systems on the ESXi server and succeeded in installing VMWare-Tools. Except for this machine. Maybe i need a special configuration?

The problem I'm suddenly having seems to be recapped to some extent in other questions/discussions. In any case, if this question with similar dimensions/parameters has already been resolved with sufficient clarity that I can fix the problem myself, kindly redirect me the extant discussion/resolution.

Having said that, the precise answer(s) to what the solution(s) might be seem relatively unique to each user/vm environment. If a forensic review could clarify whatever caused my particular problem, I would be happy to upload dump files, mem files, etc. from the relevant directory.

I'll go ahead and upload as much as I can here to get started on this.

The problem started this morning after the VM ('Zero') had been suspended yesterday and the host machine was shut down normally last night.

The problem I'm having is that my VM won't bootstrap from the .vmx file, which to my knowledge was not altered/corrupted, but may have been without my knowledge. The only AV program running (apart from Windows Defender) on the host machine is CCleaner--neither of which have caused any problems like this to date--this is the first/only time this has happened yet and I've been running this very same VM image of Windows 7 for 2-3 years quite stably. The VM image is called 'Zero' (will be evident from image appended of the VM directory in User/docs). All of the .vmdk files are present and accounted for (#'s 001-042)--no vmdk's missing. The .vmx/config file is still present.

I can say that ~ 2 weeks ago Microsoft pushed out a rather large 'update' for Windows 10, which runs as the sole OS (no dual boot) on the same physical hard drive that also runs Workstation and on which is stored all VM files relevant for the functioning of Zero. There were the usual product updates for Edge/IE, etc. (and maybe some other stuff wedged in there by MS), but there were no immediate concerns/problems discernable in the functioning of Workstation (I think I was running 12.x, no windows server and no pro version, just the freeware Workstation). This evening, I downloaded and installed v14 of workstation thinking that it might help to resolve the problem, but no dice. If I had to guess the .vmx got corrupted somehow, by the otherwise 'normal' functioning of some other process, hidden conventionally within windows or (I would give it less probability), the 'ordinary' functioning of CCleaner or Windows defender.

I'd take a guess that if I could assess/test and repair the .vmx file (assuming it has been corrupted), that would solve the problem. Incidentally, the .vmss file is ~ 200mg, too large for upload w/ conventional means.
Anyway, I'm really hoping to get some guidance/reflection from the users here in this forum--really any useful/helpful reflections/insight would be most appreciated. Thank-you in advance, I'm really in a pickle.

Revised 03/19: I have a hunch that the culprit here was the Microsoft Update 2-3 weeks ago--various/itinerant manifestations of strange/unexplainable behavior with the host OS since then--apparently unrelated but may not be correlated. Similar thing happened w/ host machine OS Office Outlook functioning; Outlook unable to load/interpret native.pst/.ost files in its extant file hierarchy w/some files being duplicated. I could try restoring the host OS back to pre-update state but my sense is that would not resolve the problem here. I can't get product support from VMware without buying 10 ore more licenses, although I could upgrade to Workstation v15 Pro if that would offer additional tools for resolving this.

I'm seeing a new issue since I've updated my VCD plugin for VRO to 9.5. The following code returns "undefined" for the "parent" attribute.

Has anyone else seen an issue like that? Could someone confirm that it is a bug in the new plugin? And if that is the case, how should I raise the issue in order to get a fix?

I created a basic vCloud Script in VRO where I select a VCD Org and that selection gets dumped into a variable.

I can see when I run the workflow that the variable gets filled correctly. The variable name is 'vcloudOrg'

Within the same scriptable task I'm trying to output that variable to the System.log, however it keeps saying unspecified.

I have the exact same script running in VRO 7.4 without any issue. I've also tried in my VRO 9.5 with vcloud plugin 9.1 and 9.5, both produce the same result.

Has anyone else seen this ?

I am trying to filter extension by Property Value using the "com.vmware.data.query.PropertyConstraint" <nestedConstraint> tag in "plugin.xml",

where a PropertyProviderAdapter is being implemented which returns the Property Value as boolean and matches the Property Name as String,

based on that the extension needs to be rendered, but in HTML5 these doesn't seem to work, please suggest any plausible ways to implement the

extension filter in HTML5 plugin.

Hi, Strange behaviour with our EVGA tera1 zero clients. I have followed all the relevant documents on enabling TLS1.0 and had the following results which I hope someone can help with.

I have several hosts running Vsphere 5.5 u3 and View 6.02. I want to upgrade this to esx 6.5 and View 7.x so I removed all current VMS from one of my hosts (still on 5.5), then installed a 2008 r2 server with View composer 7.4, a VCSA V6.5 and another Win server with View Connection server 7.4. I then took one of my golden images across and updated it to View Agent 7.4 and created a linked clone VM. After adding registry entries for Pcoip.ssl_protocols in the linked clone and pcoip.ssl_Cipher_list in the linked clone, and the SSLprotcol and SSLcipherlist registry entires in the connection server I managed to connect to the VM using one of my zero clients. I tested this several times after rebooting etc. and it worked every time.

I then decided to see if I could get it to work with View 7.7 so I snapshott'd both the connection server and composer server then upgraded both to 7.7. When I tried to connect the tera1 wouldn't connect to the connection server. I then tried reverting back to the snapshotted V7.4 composer and connection server. This time I could connect to the connection server, but when I tried to login to the machine I got 'Session Negotiation Failed. Client may not be compatible with the host session negotiation cipher setting'. I have tried deleting and recreating the VCSA, uninstalling View Composer and connection server. Still the same.

Finally I have started completely from scratch on the test host. Loaded esx 6.5, Created a new VCSA, built a new 2008 R2 server and loaded 7.2 composer, ditto with 7.21 connection server, reverted back to the golden image with the 6.02 agent, uninstalled and installed 7.1 agent and added the pcoip.ssl_protocol lines then composed a new VM. I still get the Session negotiation failed.!

Is there anything that 7.7 might have done / added to the AD controller or something on the rest of my original network machines that has stopped this working suddenly (the live V6.02 view linked clones are still working with no issues on the 6.02 view vcenter, composer and connection server)

Hopefully someone can help as I have 60 users all using tera1 machines.

Хранилище делала снэпшоты, после чего был переполнен LUN и виртуальная машина остановилась с ошибкой "The operation cannot be allowed at the current time because the virtual machine has a question pending: 'msg.hbacommon.outofspace:There is no more space for virtual disk '/vmfs/volumes/5c4b18ea-39e14e84-39e7-f4e9d4cf4810/AD/AD -000002.vmdk'. Is there a document or a rule of thumb that states the conditions for latency and bandwith speed for an excellent user experience on a horizon view client using the blast protocol?

Is there a tool that i can install on a thin client running (windows 10 IoT) a horizon view client and record these statistics and i can tell what's wrong? Like a "ping" tool for the blast protocol? Or a similar tool like solarwinds's free voip monitor tool but one that does horizon blast?

I have no insight on wether my network is up to snuff on providing the right bandwidth and latency for our deployment.

In vCenter 6.7 u1, when selecting "cluster" and then "updates/Host Updates": Im prompted to "Download vendor firmware tool" ("Dell R440 vSAN Ready", "perccli_vmware ...zip"). I downloaded the file displayed after selecting "Enter your own location".  I selected the file and clicked "open", progress bar stops at 5% and a red bar with a exclamation point is shown. I re-downloaded and tried with a new file, same result. Unpacked the VIB and tried uploading in VUM, and got the error "Cannot upload file, because it is an invalid package".

Info about system:

System is completely offline and will stay that way, no temporary connecting just for troubleshooting etc.

4 x Dell R440 VSAN ready nodes, ESXi 6-7u1 installed with latest Dell ESXi-ISO (10302608)

vCenter 6.7 u1 installed on external ESXi, different version Dell but with the same Dell ISO-image.

vSAN configured, HCL DB updated. vSAN health check is OK, except for indicating that the vendor tool is needed to determine firmware version on: "(LSI Logic) Dell HBA330 adapter"

- Deployed 2 ESXi updates on the cluster with no issues

- Tried a restart of vCenter

- Tried the upload 10+ times in total, same result every time

Имеем EMC VNX5400 на которой крутится Vmware 6.0 (вся среда виртуализации).

Проблема в следующем: в EMC вылетело 2 жестких диска после чего были куплены новые и вставлены в полку на "горячую" в те же слоты (Скрин1).  Эти диски в данный моментв статусе "Unbound".

Вопрос:

Как вернуть их в статус "Enabled" .

Можно ли все делать по пунктам как в инструкции EMC VNX/MCx Storage Pool Expansion – NavisecCLI or Unisphere – Pragmatic IO.

Также на (скрине2) нынешняя ситуация в данный момент.
