vMotion slowness/timeout and temporary VM network loss during snapshot creation/deletion over NFS v3 netapp storage

Hi everyone,

I've got an intermittent issue which I've done my best to isolate which seems to revolve around storage that I have located on a netapp over NFS v3 hybrid storage. Note: I also have fibre channel storage on the same netapp running over vrdms which has no issues whatsoever. This issue happens only while using my storage that uses NFS. I've got an open call with vmware however I have not resolved the issue. I'm in the middle of a long list of things to try and feel like I'm getting no where.

What happens is if I try to vMotion a VM across different hosts it will time out or go very slow. Also, if a snapshot is created or deleted it will drop VM network connectivity and occasionally timeout. The same process works absolutely fine on any VM using vrdms on fibre channel storage. It only happens on VM's using NFS. VMware had me upgrade the host enic drivers and vmware tools on the VMs. It seems better, maybe less frequent? But it still happens. It still seems isolated to anything using the NFS protocol. I migrated something to fiber channel on the vrdms protocol to test. Everything went really snappy and fast. I'm not expecting the same speed as my fibre channel storage but it should not timeout.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm running VMware 6.0.0 2656761 and tools version 10.1.10.
