Missing menu text in Chrome on Mac OS

Has anyone experienced this issue, and do you know what's causing it?

mac OS 10.12.3 and Chrome 56.0.2924.87 (64-bit).

Tried uninstall Chrome+profiles+preferences, restart, re-install Chrome, tried different account on same machine. Same result.
