Network failover testing with VDs and port channels

Hi Guys

I have a cluster of hosts and have been testing with one vm on one host for network failover

Basically, i have two physical switches with vpc's

My host has two nics connected to my test vds, there is one nic to each physical switch . IP hash enabled on the portgroup for vm testing - this all works ok and if i take down one side of the channel then i still have a ping

If i use explicit failver (should not be using this i know when vpc's) then as long as dvuplink1 is listed first and then dvuplink2 is listed second, then all is ok here too

The issue is when i switch the portgroup to use dvuplink2 first and dvuplink1 is listed underneath it then the vm wont ping UNLESS i take down one side (any side) of the port channel

Can someone explain to me why this is happening ?

Here is switch A

interface port-channel 111

  description To Chassis1:Server1

  switchport mode trunk

  switchport trunk allowed vlan x x x

  spanning-tree port type edge trunk

  no negotiate auto

  vpc 111

Here is switch B

interface port-channel111

  description To Chassis1:Server1

  switchport mode trunk

  switchport trunk allowed vlan x x x

  spanning-tree port type edge trunk

  no negotiate auto

  vpc 111
