Hello-
I have a vendor who wants an NFS share mounted on their VM guest machines. Today we have Isilon clusters serving NFS to the ESXi hosts, but this only holds vmdks and the guests are not directly exposed to the NFS system. Our servers are Cisco UCS so each server has 2 vnics for guest network traffic and 2 vnics for NFS traffic with Jumbo frames enabled (there are other vnics as well for vmotion, etc, but they are not relevant here. The guest data vnics cannot see the vlan for the configured nfs traffic and vise-versa.
Should I add two additional vnics to the UCS servers and build another nfs vlan specifically for the guests or should I build a vswitch (or dvs) on the existing NFS vnics that host the vmkernal for the esxi nfs access? I cannot expose the nfs vlan to the existing guest data vnics becuase they are not configured for Jumbo frames.
Thanks
