vShere 5.5 out of-the box.

I'm quite new to vSphere and I'm putting my vSphere in VMWare Workstation 10 to play with
I'm facing an issue: straight after ESX install, installed vSphere client and connected to ESX for importing the vCenter appliance, which has been  imported smoothly. What happens is that when the appliance is run it does not find the dhcp and is not connected to the network (tried to give it a fixed IP but nothing, it's isolated).- The network config hasn't been modified at all from  out of the box install, so I have my vswitch0 connected to the only NIC on the virtual ESX and the two default portgroups (Management and VM Network) on top of it . The ESX NIC is configured on NAT in VMware workstation, so I would expect virtual machines on "VM Network" portgroup to retrieve the IP address from NAT dhcp on VMware Workstation.
When I setup any virtual machine in the VM Network portgroup, they can't locate the dhcp.
Is there anything I forgot?

Thanks a lot in advance
