For asset management purposes I want to be able to report on serial numbers for Linux servers in VCM. I played with it a bit and this is the best I could come up with is running a remote command which results in a file created with the serial number and then picking it up with a Custom Information filter. Is there a better way to do this? In particular I'd like to be able to skip outputting the command to a file and having to collect that. If I can get out of running the command that would be great as well.
