I have a Windows 8 64-bit VM running on my Mac. I noticed the other day that when I clicked a link to an RSS feed in Safari on my Mac side, it tried to add the feed in Outlook in windows. Even if the VM is powered down, it automatically opens VMWare and starts up my VM to try and add the feed. I thought it was as simple as going to Default Applications>Configure> +, add RSS and set to Safari. But when I do this, as soon as I click an RSS link, the VM boots up again, and the setting has reverted back to MS Outlook as the default for RSS. I'm flummoxed! I've even gone so far as to edit the registry to disable RSS in Outlook, and then finally uninstall Outlook. But it still reverts back to MS Outlook as the default for RSS links instead of Safari. Anyone seen this?
