I've scoured the internet for help on this and I am seriously stumped and I hope someone can help.
Running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit as the host OS. I upgraded VMware Workstation version 9 to version 10. I first cloned my Red Hat (RHEL6.3) guest, then "upgraded hardware" on it to 10, the tried to start it. What I get is:
RAMDISK: incomplete write (29070 != 32768)
write error
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
Pid: 1, comm: swapper not tainted 2.6.32-279.el6.x86_64 #1
followed by a few lines of a call trace.
I tried to then mount my cloned copy thinking it was a good backup - and I get the same thing. I have a similar earlier Red Hat instance of a guest OS that I have not attempted to upgrade to version 10 that actually does boot. I was going through the vmdk configuration file between this one and the upgraded and cloned copies to see if I could find any notable differences and I cannot.
Any help that anyone can provide I would be eternally grateful. I have a configuration of some software in that machine that I really need - and I thought cloning first would save my behind - but in this case it didn't help me at all.
Thanks!
Ryan
