expose proxy version in chart

I'd like to be able to get the proxy version (e.g. 4.12, as exposed by the API) in a chart, via the ~proxy metric space. The build version, so far as I know, can't reliably be turned into the release version. (what works for 4.7 doesn't work for 4.12 and vice-versa)
