What is the esxupdate (443) outgoing firewall rule?

Hello,

I noticed I have some 6.7 ESXi hosts where the rule is enabled and some where it's not.

I tried to find more info online but it's not easy and I still don't understand what this rule is needed for?

It's named esxupdate, it sounds like it might be needed when I use VUM to patch my hosts?
