Installing an OS from a .7z file

So here is my question i downloaded a file which says "Kali linux vmware i486.7z";

Thinking that it is an bootable .iso file.

After seeing the 7z file i extracted it using 7zip which gave a huge 9GB file!! (which was only 2.8gb in 7z);

The extracted file contained lots of .vmdk,.vmdn etc files.

Now How do i install (or boot) this thing.

I have a 32bit NON PAE processor currently running Windows Xp sp3 32bit(NON PAE)

Please explain it from scratch i am new to virtual machines;
