I got the point that once you upgrade from 6.5 to 6.7 you can't just downgrade installing the 6.5 image, however from 6.7 I can do a recovery boot and run the previous version (6.5).

Once I'm up and running again in 6.5 is there any way to make this effective (like surviving a reboot)?
It seems like 6.7 is still the default:
[root@BLACK:~] tail -2 /*bootbank/boot.cfg
==> /altbootbank/boot.cfg <==
build=6.7.0-3.94.15820472
updated=47
==> /bootbank/boot.cfg <==
build=6.5.0-3.120.15256549
updated=46
I've tried once back on 6.5 to "upgrade" to 6.5 but I get an error about a "min version 6.6" required or something (I should have noted down the error sorry)...
So in a nutshell: is there any smart way from where I am to stick to the currently recovered 6.5 or do I really have to reinstall?
Many thanks
