Purpose: we are trying to provide a dynamic menu based on OS version to use the correct cloneSpec file when provisioning. One issue is we have many domains; AD/DNS for windows and the same DNS zones are used for linux. The problem is we are using cloespec files in vcenter to determine custom naming ,domain information and they cannot be the same; we do not want users to have to think too much about choosing the correct domain... so the idea was to use a dynamic list based on OS to present the correct domain/cloneSpec combination.
my ask is: in vro how would i retrieve all attributes in an configuration element file and present as dynamic drop down menu in a blueprint? i need the attribute name to be presented then when the user picks a value from the drop down the associated attribute value is applied as the clonespec file to be used for cloning and custom naming
right now i use a static list with multiple values:
As you can see i had to denote the domain names with a "-win or - linux" as the domains are used in either OS but the clonespec file is required to have unique names in vcenter and for our custom naming.
I'm currently playing with using an action item attached to a custom property called cloneSpec to retrieve from an element file but so far no joy. Any help would be awesome, thank you!
