Cannot add USB Devices to my VMs

I want to use the devices I have connected to hubs in my VMs

I'm on a Mac book pro 2018 with USB c and the driver USB 3.1 bus is:

USB 3.1 Bus:

  Host Controller Driver:    AppleIntelCNLUSBXHCI

I cannot see anythin under add usb devices and bluetooth.

I've tried USB 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0 and ubunutu 19.04 as well as windows 10.

No matter what I do the devices do not become visible in my vms.
