VMware Converter fails at 1% on Windows XP with the error code 2147754774

I get this error every time I've tried to use vCenter. There is a solution for use with Server 2003, but does not seem to work here.

This does not work, and there is only one provider.

I must be doing something incorrectly here. Any ideas?
