VMX File Corrupt with GNS3 VM.

Hi

I am fairly new to GNS3/Fusion (by new I mean started using GNS3 in the last few days - I have used VMware before but I don't have any understanding of the underlying technology) and whilst I'm really impressed with it as compared to Packet Tracer/Vbox etc I am having issues with it. Specifically with the GNS3 VM.

I've got the GNS3 VM installed on VMware Fusion (version 11.0.2) and imported into GNS3 with all the defaults. However, I am repeatedly getting the message VMX File Corrupt when I try to run the VM upon opening GNS3. Im not changing anything. I've had a look at the VMX and whilst many of the terms in it are ones I'm familiar with I don't understand them contextually. Ive attached the contents of this file to this post.

GNS3 does give the advisory that I should use a tool called 'vmrun' to establish any problems and whilst I can navigate to this folder using Finder (by click Go from the menu bar and entering the path to the folder containing it) it simply runs with no arguments and that's that. I have tried using Terminal to navigate to the folder its contained in but when I try to run from there I get the message that the VM cannot be found. I've entered the syntax of the command Im using to try and do this below.

vmrun -T fusion checkToolsState /Users/stephenhendry/virtualmachines.localized/"GNS3 VM.vmwarevm"/"GNS3 VM.vmx"

To further confuse things, sometimes I don't get the VMX corrupt message but instead a message which states "Dictionary Problem".

And as an observation I have noticed that this problem only occurs when I shut down or restart my Mac. I can import the VM into GNS3, do some work close down GNS3 (which automatically shuts the VM down) and then reopen it no problem as long as I haven't shut down or restarted my physical machine in the interim.

Reimporting is not an issue for myself but I'm currently at college and I have an end of year project due, I require an A in this in order to secure a place at University. GNS3 would make this easier as its more capable than Packet Tracer, the college dont have GNS3 though so I'll have to hand my Mac over to the college and I do not want to fail the project due to an issue with the GNS3 VM.

Is there anyway to stop this or am I doing something that Im missing?

Thanks in advance,

Stephen
