Hi All,
Please provide the solution one below issue.
We have one Vcenter 5.1 with 8 esxi5.1 node cluster under that of 300 VMs. Storage is using from HP MSA P2000 G3 with 3 LUNs.First LUN for ESXi OS and remaining two for VM Guests. On Wednesday(7-5-14) OS LUN went inactivate state and there is no logs generated on storage side. We restarted ESXi and storage arrays after the VMs are showing invalid or orphaned. We also tried to add to inventory but LUns are not allowing to do any operations bcoz of vmfs file system corrupted

With reference to View Connection Server 5.3, and the event log entry 105 advising the broker has been detected as having been configured with too small amount of physical memory.
I was under the impression with 5.3 that once the amount of memory had been changed the JVM heap size would be automatically adjusted to the optimal size on each start of the View Connection server. That there would be no need for manual adjustment or reinstalling the Connection server. I have increased the memory, restarted and re-installed the Connection server, and am still seeing the event log entry. Is there another step that needs to be carried out to fully resolve this?
Many Thanks
hi
we are trying to launch a workflow that copy a file from vCO appliance to a Windows VM and fail with this error:
where xxx.yy.z.ggg is management IP of ESXI host where is Windows VM
In event log we see this message:
Guest operation Initiate File Transfer to guest performed on virtual machine XXX
thanks
Are there API plugins for Horizon 5.3 in vCenter Orchestrator 5.5?
I understand that there may be for vCloud Automation Center, but we are not using that, just the Orchestrator.
With View 5.0, there are no plugins for Orchestrator 5.0.
We have to script everything out by calling PowerCLI scripts that reside on the View Connection Broker Server.
Very painful.

VM is running windows 2003 OS with 4 cpu and 4 gb Ram .One my application is running on the VM. Which is very slow and user is feeling slow response .When I checked there is no balloon driver triggered on the VM.
Sometimes CPU went for peak and most of the time it was normal only.
When I ping VM from outside it was pinging with latency. Can anyone suggest me what causes this VM slow ness issue. How to check if single VM is slow other than performance tab

Hi All
I am testing vsan function in my lab, and create vswitch which enable [VSAN traffic] function, then after testing , I want to add vmotion and HA function in vswitch...but I could not find the place.
I want to ask (1) which location that I could modify and add vmotion/HA or DRS function (2) whether I could modify such properties in VI Client when I enable VSAN ?
thanks!!

I am having a strange performance issue using the View client for OSX and connecting to a Windows 8 remote desktop. I am at the latest versions server and client side, and the connections to the same remote workstations using a windows client over RDP work great. No performance issues. I'm somewhat at a loss as to what the issue could be.
Context menus in the remote desktop work quickly, but running programs, opening and closing windows, etc is very slow. No resource contention or hogging on the remote system, nor the client. All PCOIP connections and/or RDP sessions to other workstations (which are all Windows 7) work great with no issues. Any help in troubleshooting is appreciated.
I've built a Red Hat 6.5 Virtual Machine using VMStudio OVF. I had configured this VM to show a login screen when the system boots up.
I applied the latest RHEL packages to this VM and the login screen stopped being displayed.
I eventually narrowed the issue down to the installation of package: initscripts-9.03.40-2.el6_5.1.x86_64.rpm
When this package is installed, a new version of the /etc/init/start-ttys.conf is copied over the existing start-ttys.conf.
(The change that Red Hat have implemented is to change "env ACTIVE_CONSOLES=/dev/tty[2-6]" to "env ACTIVE_CONSOLES=/dev/tty[1-6]")
This means that the VMWare added line to invoke the login screen is no longer in the start-ttys.conf file:
initctl start vamitty TTY=/dev/tty1
This results in the login screen not being invoked after boot up.
VMware should use file: start_ttys.override to change the behaviour rather than editing the file directly.
Paul.
Hello,
I would like to know if there is possibility to, using Web Service SDK, determine if I'm connected with stand alone ESXi host or through vCenter.
I've observed that in case of connecting to the ESXi host directly, the name of Datacenter is ha-datacenter. It's not common probably, but unfortunately someone can name datacenter this way, and then such check wouldn't be enough.
Is it maybe coded in some uuid, or other place?
It's quite important issue for me so I would be grateful for any tips!
I upgraded vCAC 6.0.0 to 6.0.1 and now the vCO appliance embedded with the vCAC Appliance seems to be broken. I am unable to connect to the default vCO from vCAC. In other words, when I login into vCAC Default Tenant /Advanced Services/Server Configuration and choose "Use the default Orchestrator Server", I get the error "Cannot connect to the Orchestrator server".
When I look at the log file , I see the below error message -
2014-02-28 20:58:16.268-0700 [http-bio-192.168.134.143-8281-exec-10] ERROR {} [VSOFactoryClient] [0002]User 'root@localos' is not authorized!
javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: [0002]User 'root@localos' is not authorized!
When I go to vCAC Appliance Management Interface, I see the vco service is not registered.
vco | o11n.com.vmware.csp.o11n.vco | 2014 Feb 25 22:34:09 | |
advanced-designer-service | com.vmware.csp.core.designer.service | 2014 Feb 20 21:24:11 | REGISTERED |
Now the strange part is, I am able to start the vco-configurator service and go to configurator interface. I can also login to vco client and do normal stuff like running workflows, looking at vCenter, vCAC host inventory etc. I also see that the vco endpoint that I have setup within vCAC is working fine. So, everything works just fine except the above error.
I've noticed in recent versions the flat files for VMDK's have gone away and we are back to the old way of doing it with just the VMDK. What version did they change this back on? I haven't found much info on the interwebs about it.
Hi there
I am getting an error and can't get into my VMWARE.
This is the error:
File "/Applications/Windows XP Professional.vmwarevm/Windows XP Professional.vmx" line 40: Syntax error.
Really not sure what to do!
Is VMWare Workstation 10 capable of running VMs with Windows Server 2012 R2 using ReFS?
Technical Preview Version of VMware Dynamic Types Plug-In
This is a patch release of the plug-in.
Version 1.0.0 build 1666032 (BETA - This is not a GA release)
Known issues:
This release is not an official one and is intended for testing purposes only. It is NOT supported by GSS. It is not recommended for production use.
Please report any bugs in the comments.
For better or worse, I'm still attempting to get either the Adaptec or LSI remote GUIs to work. Needless to say, neither do and the reasons for which I cannot even begin to guess at.
However in the vmkernel.log file, I found this line quite a number of times:
2014-05-09T23:17:08.519Z cpu152:35827)VmkAccess: 637: sfcb-pmcraid_st: access denied:: dom:pluginDom(3), obj:pluginObj(95), mode:file_create(3)
... obviously timestamps and CPU numbers vary but what does the rest of it mean?
And will making that error go away get the Adaptec MaxView storage manager working?
Hello Everyone.
I've discovered that a log file named ql_ima.log is growing over time. Eventually, it gets big enough to fill the /tmp directory. This of course causes problems with any other process that needs to write to the /tmp directory. I've tried turning off verbose logging with "esxcfg-module --verbose 0 qla4xxx" which I think probably works for that module, but don't know if the ql_ima.log file belongs to that module. There is a ql_ima_sdm.log file that seems to have a limit on size configured somewhere because the ql_ima_sdm.log_old file exists (always at 4.8MB). Of note is that a "ql_ima.log_old" file does NOT exist.
Does anyone know how I can disable this ql_ima.log file completely or at least cap it at a few MBs? I don't believe I've been able to find the right person at VMware Technical Support that knows anything about this file or it's configuration. If anybody knows anything, I would greatly appreciate it.
ESXi 5.5 build 1331820
Thanks.
